Final Music lesson of 2020

 1-What have you enjoyed about music this year? I have enjoyed playing music instruments and learning how to play new instruments, also loved the teacher Mrs Beer. She was amazing and she is one of my favorite teachers. I also enjoyed performing in front of the class even tho I was a bit shy.

2-What has been you favorite task and why? My favourite task was the composing, it was basically about getting non instrumental things and trying to make a nice relaxing beat with it.

3-Did you complete your class performance? How was it? Why not? Not really because some of our group members were not at school during practice

4-Is there anything you did not have the opportunity to do or learn?  I wanted to learn and know how to play more instruments and also have the gut to perform in front of an audience

Esol- Effect of unfair trade on a community's/individual's hauora

For the past week we have been looking at well being and the connection of chocolate. For this task we had to write some words related to the well being. Our topic was Effect of Unfair trade on a community's or individual's well being/hauora. Here is my work that I have been working on today.

Business Studies- Brochure- impulse Buying

 For the last week in business we have been learning about impulse buying, what it is, why people do it, what we can do to prevent it and the consequences that could come from impulse buying 

We had to make a brochure about everything we have learnt in the past week

Reflection - I really liked  this task that we had to do as i could be creative and it was quite easy to do as we just had to go over stuff that we ave already done and present it in a nice way

Social Studies-The Treaty Of The Union

Esol-Recount Orientation

 Recount Orientation

On Friday the 4th of September, The 10 Esol class went by taxi van on a class trip to the Antarctic Center with Miss Flores, Ms Briggs and Mrs Handley. At 8:40 in the morning the 10 Esol class departed from Hornby High School to the Antarctic Center. When we arrived at the Antarctic Center at 9:00am we met our instructor Jayne and we went to the workshop to talk about the explorers that had an adventures time in antarctica back in 1800s and 1900s. 

Soon after the talk with Jayne we got to go the Hagglunds. We had a great time on the ride, it was very bumpy and very fun. During the ride an instructor talked about how the hagglunds were used and how much they weigh. We went over so many hills and it was very funny because all the boys were screaming like girls.

At around 9:40 we checked out the penguins, the penguins we looked at were the Little blue penguins. These penguins were saved by people because they could not live by themselves in the wild, so they brought them into the antarctic center. All of the penguins at the center are injured. Some penguins have bad eye sights, some have broken legs, and the rest have broken fins.

At 10:30 we went into the 4D movie and watched a movie about The Ice Voyage in Antarctica. The movie was so realistic it made me feel like I was on the trip in Antarctica. I really like the movie it was so interesting and every time theirs water and it splashes there is actual water that splashes on us. I've been to the Antarctic Center so many times I already knew what was gonna happen. The Ice Voyage movie was about people going to the Antarctic mountains and climb them. 

Soon after the 4D movie was finished we had free time and we could have some morning tea. Me, Rusi, Subhnesh and Zapa left the class as soon as we heard it was free time. We quickly rushed up stairs to grab something to eat then come back down and eat. After we all ate we went into the exploration room where we seen a  mannequin that looked very realistic, he was just standing next to his sled with a tent next to him. I wanted to go into the tent but it was too dark in the room and I couldn't see anything so I didn't go in. After that we went up stairs again and grabbed some water because we were very thirsty. At around 11.00 we had to meet at the storm room where we link up with the whole class. 

At around 11:20am the whole class met at the storm room. We all prepared to go in, we all put on our comfortable and warm clothes and put a wrap over our shoes so we don't slip on the ice. As soon as we entered the the storm room it was very cold, Jayne told us it was -8 degrees, and this is summer in Antarctica. After a few minutes they turned it up to -18 degrees. Everyone was screaming and tried to go into the small igloo. Not everyone could fit in the igloo so some stayed outside. It was a very fun time and I slipped about 2 times. 

Soon after the storm room it was time for the last place to visit before we head back to school at 12:20. We all gathered up at the entrance and waited for Jayne to take us to the gallery, as soon as Jayne came we visited the gallery and explored around it and wrote down some answers. 

After the gallery we met back at the front of the Antarctic Center and waited for our taxi's to come and head back to school right in time for lunch time at 1:20pm. A few minutes later our taxis arrived and it was time to head back to school, we said goodbye and thank you to Jayne for taking us around and showing us what happens in Antarctica. 

Market Day Review

Yesterday we had market day for school, this is my review from yesterdays market day:

 Strengths: 

• People came to play our game even though it wasn't the game that they expected but people still came and played and we made profit. 
• We sold out of drinks because it was a very hot day, we sold the drinks for $1 but when they were all gone we relised that we should've sold it fro at least $1.50 or $2.00.
• Our groups member figured out a plan to just load into another game instead of waiting until fortnite loads in 

Weakness:

• At the start we thought everything was going well but when we loaded into fortnite it didn't work 
• We ran out of drinks very fast because it was a very hot day and kids wanted something cold but we only had 2 packs of drinks
• Some of the group members left me the whole day so they can walk around and do nothing while I watch the gameplay.

For merit- Strengths 

• Everyone committed to what they were meant to do 
• Everyone knew what to do and they know what there part was
• No one was away and no one let the team down

Weakness

• We set up in a bad place where there was sun 
• We forgot to check and test the wifi
• We were late to set up our business 

Music-Performance Evaluation

 1-What did you perform? My group and I performed the song Lean on me by Bill Withers, I played Keyboard, Michael did the drum, and Adelaide and Zion were singing.

2-How did the performance go? The performance went great, we knew what we were doing and we knew our parts, but then when it got to the chorus I mucked up and then the whole group stopped. But we did good .

3-What was challenging about the task? Learning the song on keyboard because I did not know the chords. But I learned 

4-What did you enjoy about the task? I enjoyed playing the song and performing with my friends, it was really fun and enjoyable.

What is it about? Changes "Changes" is a hip hop song by 2Pac featuring Talent. The song makes references to the war on drugs

Your opinion on the song? I actually like this song and one of my fav rappers is Tupac Shakur

 1-How did music affect the civil rights movement? Music in the Civil Rights Movement. African American spirituals, gospel, and folk music all played an important role in the Civil Rights Movement.

2-Why was music such a powerful fare? it can allow simple people to express a story or belief in a musical arrangement which is then showed around the world.

What is a circuit?

Difference between series and parallel

Series -is in a line. A series circuit is a circuit in which resistors are arranged in a chain, so the current has only one path to take.

Parallel -Facing each other . A parallel circuit has two or more paths for current to flow through, where the components are parallel to each other.

What is Voltage? An electromotive force or potential difference expressed in volts.

How is it different in Parallel vs series?- In a series circuit, the sum of the voltages consumed by each individual resistance is equal to the source voltage,

Esol- Water is life, we need to look after it

Water is life, we need to look after it

We can't drink water because their is not enough water. Almost every river in New Zealand are polluted from farming and also from tourism. Our rivers and lakes are drowning in chemicals. waste, plastic and other pollutants. We also can't drink water from our ocean. Cleaning up polluted waterways is possible. 

Humans are the main causes of water pollution because they go and put rubbish in the water and it pollutes it. I think we should start looking after our water because when it pollutes it will be very bad and we wont be able to drink our water and we need water to drink. Their are a lot of things that causes water pollution and they are, throwing plastic, waste chemicals and other stuff like that. It is very bad if we throw waste into the water it just makes it look like we don't have rubbish bins and we just throw everything into our water. Basically every river and lake in New Zealand are being polluted at this moment. We can fix that by not littering in our water, taking care of it, Their is also a thing called water body, water pollution is the contamination of water bodies. Water body is like the side bit of the water, it is the grass that is right next to the water.

For us to save our water we need to follow the rules and look after it properly because we need to hydrate and stay healthy.

Business Studies-Forming my group

Today in our first lesson we had a challenge we had to make a tower in less than 5 minutes, the 2 resources that we used was paper and 1m tape. In my group is Dylan and Cole. We worked well thought we had trouble to execute our plan.

Today in English we read 5 different books and we writ down 5 different facts about the books. Here are my 5 facts about the 5 different books I read.

1-(Book-Basketball) In 1891 the peach baskets had no holes in the bottom, so every time a student scored someone had to get the ball out of the basket.

2-(Book-All about basketball) One of the beauties of basketball is that it's so easy to play though it's not easy to play well

3-(Book-Rugby) Jonah Lomu was the top try scorer at the two world cups he played in, The first year was 1995 semi-finals and 1999 match.

4-(Book-Joseph Parker) Joseph Parker became the first New Zealand born and Samoan first heavyweight boxing champion in history, just like his dad said he would.

5-(Book-Sonny Bill-Williams) In 2008, Sonny want a break from rugby league.He moved to France to play rugby for Toulon.

Maths - Geogebra

For the past 2 week we have been learning about Geogebra and how to make angles. At first I was confused on how to use it but my teacher helped me understand how to use Geogebra. The first day we started making our own creations to see what we can make, the rest of the week we have been learning to do angles and lines. Here are some designs I made on my own.

Today we made apple crumble for food and it was pretty cool, my partner and I was very excited because last time we made apple crumble it was very delicious and we wanted some more. So we are excited to taste our cooking.

Kobe Bryant Tragic Death on Sunday morning 26th of January 2020

Who is Kobe Bryant?
Kobe Bean Bryant was an American professional basketball player. A shooting guard, Bryant entered the National Basketball Association directly from high school, and played his entire 20-season professional career in the league with the Los Angeles Lakers. He was a father to 4 daughters, Gianna, Natalia, Bianka and Capri. Kobe Bryant joined the NBA Los Angeles Lakers at 17 years of age. He was a young NBA star and was selected for the All star team 18 times. He was a Legend, Icon, inspiration person and a father.

Why are you interested in it?
Death is a very upsetting thing to hear. Kobe Bryant was one of my favourite NBA players. His daughter was also a very good basketball player. I am interested in this topic because Kobe Bryant was a great, loving father and no one deserved to die in this tragic accident. So many people have died in helicopter crashes. The helicopter carrying Kobe, his daughter and 7 others didn't have a recommended warning system to alert the pilot he was too close to land.

How does the news impact on you,your community, the environmental or the world?
Lives lost, family members dying, people are very scared to get on a helicopter. Other people are worried for others because you never know what could happen.

What does Kobe Bryant's death make you think about, worry about, or want to take actions about?
You should always have a recommended warning system to alert the pilot, always have safety gear with you, always check the helicopter safety system before flying up in the air. Check if the weather is in good conditions to fly in.
